What are we learning?
This week we are continuing to learn about types of families. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they provide a foundation for learning about the topics in the rest of course involving conception through the first year of a baby's life. How will I know I learned it? You will know you learned it when Ms. Swanson tests you over the entire unit of types of families and you are able to answer the questions with ease. Monday : Cultural Familiy Practices around the world assignment (on canvas in class) Homework: Complete the final page of Types of Families Note Packet Tuesday : Powerpoint over parenting styles with notes; Parenting styles group activity. We will be watching my flesh and blood tomorrow about families there is cursing. Homework: Find a clip from a TV show or film that displays one of the parenting styles; submit link and description of how it reflects parenting style on paplv.instructure.com Wednesday 8/30: Watch "My flesh and blood" and fill out video viewing sheet Thursday 8/31: Paper plate TV album integrating all information they learned about families; go over what to study for tomorrow's test (Jeopardy?) Friday 9/1: Take Families Test; Finish my flesh and blood

Students take notes on their own. 8/21: Family description worksheet. Begin discussing types of families with powerpoint, students follow along in guided notes packet. 8/22: Activity 1: Finish Types of Families PowerPoint and guided notes. Activity 2: Prepare for Class debate activity on best type of family. 8/23 Activity 1: Debate best type of family. Activity 2: Family life cycle powerpoint with guided notes. 8/24: Activity 1: Infomercial activity on Family life cycle. Activity 2: Present informericals Activity 3: Brainstorm 4 parenting "styles"based on their own experiences; define child outcomes for each "style" What are we learning?
