What are we learning?
This week we are beginning our first unit on Learning about Children, which will be an overview of child development and child developmental theorists. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they provide a foundation for learning about the topics in the rest of course involving conception through the first year of a baby's life. How will I know I learned it? You will know you learned it when Ms. Jarvis gives you knowledge check quizzes throughout the unit and you do well on them. Monday: Intro: Introduce this week’s inner child playstation activity (2 minutes) Activity 1: Students pick their careers for the Game of Life Activity 2: Students spin the wheel and answer the questions on their action cards Activity 3: Vocabulary Relay Race for Unit 1 Vocab Activity 4: Why Study Child Development Brainstorm Assign homework: Watch section 1 of the unit powerpoint & fill out note guide Tuesday: Intro: Spin & Draw/answer action cards Activity 1: Socrative quiz over section 1 material & go over answers Activity 2: Have students fill out “The 4 domains of child development” worksheet; once finished have them share their answers with a partner, then as a group, then as a class.
