What are we learning?
This week we are continuing to work on our nutrition unit. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only during labs, but also when we cook at home on our own. How will I know I learned it? You will know you learned it when you pass the nutrition test and quizzes with a satisfactory score. Monday: Finish Nutrition Powerpoint Students will create an infographic that can be displayed in the school hallways that will help their peers make better food choices. Tuesday: Day 2 to work on infographic & finish. What are we learning? This week we are working on our nutrition unit. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only during labs, but also when we cook at home on our own. How will I know I learned it? You will know you learned it when you pass the nutrition test and quizzes with a satisfactory score. Monday: Activity 1: Present menus and powerpoints as a class! Activity 2: Finish Nutrition Powerpoint Activity 3: Watch Bill Nye’s “Nutrition” and have students write down 10 facts they learned throughout the course of the video as they’re watching it Tuesday: Activity 1: Students log onto Canada’s version of super tracker & enter in results Activity 2: Students use results to answer all of the questions related to it on a canvas assignment Wednesday: Activity 1: Healthy food lab: Fruit & Vegetable Smoothie Activity 2: How to read a nutrition label powerpoint with nutrtion label worksheet Thursday:: Activity 1: Fast food stations with worksheet Activity 2: Discussion over what we learned Activity 3: Begin Lab group discussion on various ways we as a society can fight obesity; Groups will discuss what they could do right now in the school to fight obesity and help their fellow students make better meal choices What are we learning?
This week we are continuing work on our egg unit, taking our test over the egg unit and talking about different types of diets before moving on to our nutrition unit. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only during labs, but also when we cook at home on our own. How will I know I learned it? You will know you learned it when you pass the eggs tests and quizzes with a satisfactory score and are able to make egg recipes at home on your own. Monday: Study for eggs test with review game Tuesday : Egg Test Begin Nutrition powerpoint with note guide Wednesday: Vegetarian diets, discuss different types of diets, complete vegetarian diet worksheet planner Thursday : Activity 1: Finish the powerpoint over Nutrition Activity 2: Create lunch menu for an age group based on their different nutritional requirements (also a powerpoint explaining different nutritional requirements of their group) Friday : LAPTOPS: Finish their lunch menu for age group & nutritional requirements of that age group powerpoint What are we learning?
