What are we learning?
This week we are beginning to work on our baking unit. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only during labs, but also when we cook at home on our own. How will I know I learned it? You will know you learned it when you pass the baking test and quizzes with a satisfactory score and do well in the practical lab. Monday: Demo Chocolate chip cookies Watch “3 chips for sister Marsha” Good Eats episode. Students decide what type of chocolate chip cookies they prefer, then modify the recipe for tomorrow’s lab. Tuesday : Chocolate Chip Cookies Lab Baking Notes continued with PowerPoint Wednesday : Demo Thumbprint Cookies Baking Notes finished with PowerPoint Thursday: Thumb Print cookie Lab Socrative quiz over 1st half of baking questions Begin History of Cakes Project (LAPTOPS) Friday: History of Cakes Project (LAPTOPS) Teacher Demo how to make frosting flowers /decorations Have Students Lab plan for cake Lab (choose recipes and write down everything needed on traditional lab plan)

We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only during labs, but also when we cook at home on our own. How will I know I learned it?
