10/10: Activity 1: Introduction to potatoes & Grains Unit: Begin by watching Alton Brown’s “Good Eats” on Potatoes with viewing guide Activity 2: Microwave Potato chip Lab Activity 3: View the different types of potatoes shown in Alton Brown & go over their properties and uses Homework: Need textbook the next day for class 10/11: Activity 1; Potato worksheet over different types of potatoes and their uses using textbooks, use laptops for final part of worksheet research Activity 2: Work on portfolio websites if time 10/12: Lab day: Potato Gratins! 10/13: Activity 1: Groups sign up for country or region and begin “picking potatoes” group project; view example of a GOOD presentation for this project Activity 2: Work day for group projects What are we learning?
