What are we learning?
This week we are starting our unit on culinary math. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only at home when we cook, but also if we choose to make a career out of our culinary skills. Understanding how menus are priced will be an essential skills for anyone looking to manage or own a restaurant. How will we know we learned it? We will know that we learned it when we are able to calculate the prices of a given menu item and determine what it would sell for on a menu in a restaurant using common methods to mark up food. What are we learning?
This week we are continuing our unit on cooking methods. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only at home when we cook, but also if we choose to make a career out of our culinary skills. Having a mastery of the different types of cooking methods and when they are appropriate will be essential to any culinary career. How will we know we learned it? We will know that we learned it when we are able to make many different recipes using different cooking methods and our foods come out delicious! Monday: Lavender Honey Ice cream preparation day; Study for Chapter 13/18 Test Tuesday: Churn ice cream; Take Chapter 13/18 Test SCulinary 1: What are we learning? This week we are finishing our unit on basic culinary skills and staring our unit on cooking methods. Why are we learning it? We are learning these things because they will help us be successful not only at home when we cook, but also if we choose to make a career out of our culinary skills.
